What is the difference between bushel gourds and Pelota gourds? Did internet search and couldn't find anything. They look alike and grow to about the same size.

They are both Lagenaria siceraria. Non-scientifically speaking, the bushel gourd is probably a descendent of the kettle type while the much longer Pelota is a bottle type. "Bushel gourd" is not a given name. It is a generic name for all gourds with that shape. "Pelota" is a given name, specifying one particular type of bottle gourd. The difference is about the same as a field pumpkin "Gladiator" (flat, round) and a "Howden" (longer, round).

Thank you guys. I understand better now. Same Genus/species but basically a little difference in variety.
