It won't be top secret if I tell, but here goes. I'm going to do a lot of fishing in April. I will use fish heads and trash fish for fertilizer. A few trout heads helped me grow a state record gourd last year. About 45 years ago I got regular Indian corn to grow 15' tall with fish heads and guts. This year I will see what it will do for AG's and field pumpkins. I may have to try to catch the carp spawning run up to Muskrat Slough and get a half a pickup load.

I used to have lots of problems with coons but none the past few years. I think that a disease went through them. Either that or the coyotes and mountain lions are keeping them thinned out. We even have a few wolves in our county now too. They never get into garbage cans any more and I rarely even see them hit on the roads. I have excellent habitat for them, lots of timber, a creek and a state park just 500' away. If you bury deep enough they don't smell the fish. A hot electric fence keeps them out too.

I have an "all in one" mad science time saving project. Originally I was going to transfer disease and insect resistance straight from wild species into AGs. The problem was our plants require a lot of space, and I needed lots of plants for replication. To solve this problem I introduced the dominant bushing gene into the project.
The bush gene cuts space requirements down to a maximum of 10 square feet per plant. Progeny of F1 Bush crossed with AG will be half bush, half vine. All progeny that vine have no chance of carrying the bush gene. I believe that this gene will allow us to produce superior male lines by letting us grow more plants, thus allowing us to select the best of the best. I can see this being good for selecting %heavy, shape, and color.
I have 4 plants growing in five gallon buckets, in the greenhouse, with several fruit already set.
