Any guesses on winning bids for Meier 2014 seeds?
My guess is $625 for the 2323, $550 for the 2102.

I don't believe there will be that many available even at auction so I say if you want the best seed in the world today $750.oo

I just amazed at how much someone will pay for a seed that's only as good as the grower buying it. Kevin Fortey is selling seed stock from multiple world record holders by comparison pennies on the dollar. And you get more than ONE seed. IMHO you should offer at least 2 same seeds in a lot. I know of several folks and I'm sure you all do too. They paid big bucks for one seed and it didn't germinate. Not wanting to be labeled as a winier they just keep quite. Just saying, IMHO

To begin with, some people actually believe in helping the clubs and are quite aware that they MIGHT be able to acquire a seed they want by other means. Secondly, most growers have tightened the distribution of their seeds due mainly to all the hoarders who asked for seeds and either did not plant them or used them to trade for other seeds. And lastly, most of the growers I solicited for auction seeds sent very few of each and certainly not enough to offer multiples in each set. I count my lucky stars that they agreed at all to donate. After all, those seeds belong to THEM.

Just one more point: Most growers have a "clubs come first" policy because they know that clubs are largely responsible for the exponential growth in this hobby/sport and distribution of information related to it.

Scott, thanks for the Kevin Fortney link.
The guy who bought the 1810 Stevens auction seed for $1625 several years must feel a little sheepish now the world record is 2323.

I was the GPC treasurer when he bought the 1810 stevens. He paid it off in three installments. Prob. the only pumpkin seed with a payment plan. I heard he didn't grow it the next season-don't know after that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most clubs require you to donate an x amount of seeds to be eligible for the top 3 prize money? I support that but one seed is a crap shoot, IMHO.
