Carl, I agree with you and I would even go a bit further: Details are a good thing, further info would be even better ("DMG because of blossom end split" or "DMG because of mouse hole in bottom of an otherwise solid and sound fruit without any internal cracks and no sign of rot" could make a subtle difference).
Anyway, people who buy a seed (people who buy a seed for a shit load of money) usually are aware of what they spend their money on. People who bought seeds of the 1789 in the first fall probably knew that the fruit was DMG, people who bought seeds of the 1789 the years thereafter probably bought them because they gave a damn on the DMG and they were after the potential of the seed stock which had been proven in the first year.
That summarized: Most people probably wouldn´t spend (loads of) money on seeds from pumpkins they haven´t seen on the GPC charts nor in any diary.

A couple of the guys in the top 10 sent me seeds this year,,,,, there was a mistake on one of the bubbles. It was fixed right away and no big deal. This person even apologized which wasn't needed at all :)
Some of these guys are doing between 300 and 500 bubbles,,,,, not to mention all the seed packs they're printing out on their computers. Mistakes happen,,,,,, its just part of life.
I have a friend that just got diagnosed with bone cancer,,,,, now that bothers me.....
Life is to short and so amazing to sweat the small stuff or maybe I'm missing something????

Your not missing a thing. Presently I'm still taking care of my father's finances since his passing, trying to figure out if mom is going to be able to keep the house and if not then get my place prepared for her to move in with my family. Now comparing that with sending a email to a grower to see why his pumpkin was damaged. WOW, the first problem seems so small to me know. Thanks for helping me see the light.

I long for the day that my life is so great and easy that all I have to bitch about is mis labeled genetics of a pumpkin seed. Or how it may have been damaged when all it takes is a polite email to the grower of the pumpkin. All though I should thank you because no matter how difficult things get for me I know I must be better off than you because I'm not bitching and moaning about petty things. Whewww! That felt good to get off my chest

He passed mid Nov and some on here knew it but I asked them not to say anything because I didn't want a long thread of condolences. I only said it now mainly out of anger of seeing things spewed at growers over the most petty things. It's ridiculous

I will head off any questions about the McWilliams long gourds that will be on some auctions. The 129 and 123 were grown by me and my son and entered at Anamosa. The 120 grew on the 129.13 Young plant that grew my 129 and the 119 grew on the 115.13 Wright plant that grew Jacob's 123. They were measured as exhibition at Anamosa but didn't get turned in to the GPC. The 115, 114, and 111 I have labeled as unofficial because they were crooked and I measured them along the curves. They set too low on the trellis and growing on a slant board didn't help. The 111 grew on the same 115.13 Wright, the others grew on 137.5 and 139.25 Ansems. The one on the 139.25 would have been about 8" longer if I had measured it before the end rotted and fell off. They were all open pollinated because they bloomed right after the flood and the soil was too soft to set up the ladder. So they weren't controlled pollinations but they grew in less than ideal conditions. I hope this clears up any questions.

I'm only going to post once because I don't get into the bickering posts. If a seed come from a DMG pumpkin. It wouldbe nice to know what DMG. not a real big deal though. But if I get a seed that has a wrong weight or male female designation. That can affect a decision on why it gets planted. I have a seed from a very respectable grower here who listed the mail first and then the female. When asked about it he didn't think it was a big deal, but he made a note on the packages after he was questioned.

Why buy a seed and ask about it later. Common sense would be to email the grower and ask about why it was listed as damaged. Then you can make an informed decision BEFORE you buy the seed.

Yes the 1317 Clementz that was a simple printing error on the label. With picture I wasnt going to reprint the label.I have mine printed at office depots.I wasnt going to spend the money to print twice.I corrected the problem by hand writing on labels.I figured the seed would get enough publicity no one would be confused.1495 Stelts Female X 2009 Wallace male.
Now really if someone is buying seeds at Auction I would hope they would do a little research first & know it was a DMG or not.Dont buy a seed in less you check the GPC results first or now what the history is like Bob Liggetts 1964 from Circle ville is non GPC but a good healthy fruit. The Clubs should be responsible & list all dmgs I noticed The Michigan club has a few DMGS not listed on there detail page.Is this what Carl is referring to??Im sure they will tell the buyers. You can always come to auction and mention the DMG thing to keep it honest if you like. They most likely were in a hurry and figured everyone knows there DMGS>
