powdery mildew has just started on my plants.at the moment it is only on about5% of the leaves; i have just sprayed them with milk and water solution. i would like to know, should i spray the whole plant, or just the infected area??? thanks

Yes entire plant and try to get underside of leaves too

Milk is a preventive use something like infuse now that you have it.

Whole plant every week mostly as a preventive ...... It's only thing I spray when the sun is out ...

Darren nailed it use a systemic like infuse and likely it won't be an issue.
