That's crazy....just and hour and a bit North of you and all I have is a couple inches on the ground. Wow, you sure ended up on the wrong side of the lakes with this storm.

LB: where are they located?
so cal: The weird thing is that all official weather measures are taken at the buffalo airport. The airport has about 4-6 inches "officially". The totals will be broken up by town. Where I am in west Seneca 64" was the last reported measure. Dec 26-30 2001 we received 7 feet from a lake effect storm. it was easy to deal with as it was over 5 days. This 61 inches was in less than 24 hours. These totals will be the new records. The blizzard of 77 did not actually have much snowfall-maybe 6-8 inches, several feet of snow was blown off frozen lake erie and into the city.

The big issue is that it was non stop. the band stalled over the middle of erie county and it was a perfect set up. lake Erie is 40 degrees with a cold front over the longest fetch of the lake back to Cleveland drawing up warm moisture 5-10k feet then depositing it on land as snow.

The national guard is here as well. No travel allowed. Morons still going out and getting stuck which blocks the progress of the workers.
The Buffalo Bills put out a message that they needed people to shovel the stadium $10 an hour and a ticket to the game, well you cant drive so.... and apparently they expected sheriff and emergency services for the game. The governor just kind of laughed at that one. The band is right over the stadium now.

well I think its over, no more snow and its heading south. Tomorrow i'll get going on the roof. I think ill just take off a portion, I may be able to do it with the roof rake and a ladder. otherwise I have to get up there with the shovel.
problem is sun and mon 50-60 degrees with rain

Finished the roof, now there is a mountain of snow around the perimeter of the house but at least I feel better that about 3/4 of the snow is cleared off the roof. Whatever rain we get should not be an issue at least with the roof. ill get some new pics up once I rest for awhile and have lunch
death toll up to 13, finding people dead in their cars or in driveways due to heart attacks or co poisoning

More pics are up after starting clean up. The roof was a pain in the a$$. While up there I saw some folks had only a few inches on their roofs. On the back side it ended up about 4-5 ft deep at the gutter edge I removed almost all of it. The front had maybe 2-3 ft and I took about 1/2 off. Now for the melt

i can feel your pain. i grew up just west of buffalo in a small town on lake erie (silver creek) most winters we never saw the ground from first snowfall to late spring.(and we did walk a couple miles to school in that crap every day) fortunately though never that much at one time.
stay well and we will be thinking of ya.

Pain is right pap, my back hurts. raining now and hovering around 30 degrees the melt will be quick this weekend. the streets are being cleared so the run off should be ok with the sewers opened. The basement has never flooded and I pray it doesn't this time.
thanks jeff
