Massive lake effect storm continues here outside buffalo. lake effect snow bands at 3-5 inches per hour stalled over about a 30 mile wide swath coming off the lake. Ive got 3+ feet and its back to 3 inches per hour. I just posted some pics in my diary Jeffp. New estimates are 40-60 inches by this evening and another storm pending for Thursday.

Jeremy R and Karl H are probably sunning themselves north of Buffalo.

Hopefully this link works because I have never seen anything like it. Its moisture being sucked up from lake erie to be dropped a few miles inland as heavy snow.

Just got back in after about an hour outside taking the overhanging snow off the roof edge and trying to save the landscape shrubs and cypress and digging out the exhaust pipe for the furnace. the snow throughout the yard is literally up to my rib cage and I am 6'-5". News just said 4 are dead 3 from heart attacks. Now the estimates are 70 inches by tomorrow morning.

It seems that when we have a colder than normal winter here in the eastern US, the polar opposite happens in Alaska. Dang polar vortex! I am sick of it.

Pictures coming andy, sunny and no wind now, I cleared a path to the street this morning but the snow is about 4-5 feet high where I stopped. Snowblower has no chance this has to be done by shovel. Tonight and tomorrow 1-2 ft more as the lake effect band drops from the northtowns back over the lake recharges and comes back over west Seneca, orchard park Lancaster and south buffalo

worst thing I just heard on the news just now was a person was killed helping push a car out of a drift. He was pinned by the car. Death total is 5 so far, My guess is it will be going up.

This makes the snowfall in 77 appear like a minor storm. We had bad storms in the 50's and 60's, but nothing like this.

I have been able to clear enough to start the truck. I can do about an 8x8 area before I run out of gas. My hope is to open the whole driveway to the sidewalk before the next 2 feet arrives.

I made my goal got the driveway clear to the sidewalk. The band will pass through the northtowns and the city late tonight and pass over us tomorrow morning for another 1-2 feet. There is less moisture in the air otherwise we would be in for another 60-80 inches. Its going to be declared a disaster. I had to cancel lectures I was giving at SUNY buffalo and Dyouville college this week and will probably cancel clinic on Friday. More pics tomorrow

so far so go, the next band passed through and settled about 7-8 miles from me in orchard park so only about 4 new inches of snow. Hopefully it does not come back up to west Seneca. Its heading your way andy.
The town ran a hylift down the middle of the street to make a pass for emergency vehicles. ill be posting new pics in the diary.

I`v seen my fare share of snow over the years But I won`t complain about it again after seeing this!
That would freak me out knowing all that snow is on the roof..get it off before it rains.

snow is over, Rain is coming 50 and 60 degrees sat to mon with rain. Im starting on the roof tomorrow morning. I don't plan on taking it down to the shingles maybe just 3/4.

ha, I don't golf, the snow is literally 6-8 feet on the ground if I fall id just land 2-4 feet below into snow.
