After talking with Joanne at the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest office, she informed me that Sally has been diagnosed with stage 4 Liver Cancer. I've known Sally for many years & in those years she has shown a real passion & commitment to pumpkinfest & the growers of Ontario. You could say that she is the heart & soul of Pumpkinfest. We really missed her at this year's weigh off, as she was in the hospital at the time.
Ontario growers know Sally as the hardworking & tireless coordinator who makes Pumpkinfest one of the World's premier events of the weigh off season. Many others know her as the bright, cheery & fun-loving lady that was the workhorse of the Niagara International Growers Seminar for many years.
Our thoughts & prayers are with her & we wish her all the best in the days ahead.

Awww... thank you everybody for your kind words, it means a lot to me to know I have such good friends in the giant veggie community. I never expected this news to show up in the forums here but since it has, I will take this opportunity to apologize to the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest growers for my absence at the weigh-off. I so badly wanted to be there but I guess for the next little while I will have to accept that there will be some things that are beyond my control. I'll still working from a positive space and will just take one day at a time. I'm still young and healthy otherwise and I do believe in miracles so maybe one will come my way. Hope everyone had a good time at their respective weigh-offs this year and keep on growing, just make sure you are having fun!
