So let's try something new.

For some of us, growing conditions are not ideal, maybe space is limited or we're just figuring out how to grow giants. Let's team up and work together to achieve an overall goal (maybe with some of the hobbies best.)
I'd like to present a competition where interested growers are able to take part and compete as teams for the 2015 season.

Rules will be simple. 3 man/woman teams will be drawn via raffle on March 8th 2015.
Each competitors largest weight will be added to his/her teammates largest weight to achieve a combined total.
The team with the highest weight total will win.

The idea of this competition is to get fellow growers to interact with their teammates, learn off one another and hopefully build friendships and their own skills.
Additional prizes will be added before the raffle,(hopefully down to 3 places,) but as an initial incentive, I would like to include a 200.00 U.S dollar personal check, split between the first place team (3 competitors.)

I encourage all growers to join whether you're a veteran, world/state record holder or completely new to the hobby to further unite this great community and learn/teach one another. Entrance is free, but I welcome donations of any kind to further entice hopeful participants.

If you have any questions, ideas or contributions please email hertzfeldsgiantpumpkins@gmail.com
I will regularly post this until the March 8th deadline.

Thank you all for your time.

Response has certainly been positive so far. All participants names will be drawn at random by 3's and given an initial team name.
I encourage as many people as possible to make things exciting!

How bout this idea.... take the WR, subtract thats growers SR record from it, then use that difference to add to the growers weight...for the team, do that for everyone.....Call it "The equaliZer".....thoughts
ie
WIzzy grew 1170 + 845 = 2015.....Hey I get a coat!

Nice, great idea Wiz. Maybe even using 1 grower as the equalizer, either the competitor with the lowest weight on the team or the competitor that has the largest world/state record difference on the team.

If 3 growers from CO were somehow drawn together in the raffle, and say each one grew a 900-1100lbs fruit. That team would be impossible to compete with.

Sounds great Alan, hopefully we can get some more of the Michigan growers on board.

Allen b. - If you typically submit your GPC entry(s) in both of your names as a husband/wife team. You will be counted as the same participant.
