Public service announcement :
Folding Actual bubble wrap into a square with the edges taped and putting it inside a standard envelope is not what we mean by a bubble.
Socal saw picture evidence of this last year I cant remember who it was now but oh well I still cant even process this one yet

If you get a knuckle head at the P.O they will let you ship for less. You have to tell them no rollers if not they will crush your seeds.Do you want to save a dollar that bad?? it cost like 5 stamps on the bubble 2 to send it there.

Absolutely Mark. Be sure to write on your return bubble "NO MACHINE!!!" in bold letters and preferably in red. And, if a grower is generously sending you seeds that YOU have requested from him/her, don't be ridiculously cheap and gamble on the minimal postage; enclose $5.00 cash for return postage. Is it really worth pissing a grower off by asking him/her having to add postage out of their own pocket?
If you are shipping seeds for whatever reason, have the postal worker stamp your bubble "No Machine".

Is it really going to break you if a grower makes a couple of bucks on the cost of postage?

If you're a club secretary who asks growers for seeds for auctions on a regular basis and you consistently fail to at least cover the cost of postage, you ain't going to be in business for very long and, given the inconsistency of the USPS as far as rates go, it ain't worth it.
We see the great postage debate every year here on BP.com and, given that growers are rightfully tighter with giving seeds out, enclosing five bucks for return postage is a bargain.

I get lots of seed requests with insufficient postage, and I always take care of it and never worry too much... But my question is what international postage reimbursement is appropriate this year. I am responsible for securing good seeds for the magpg auction, and I want to be sure we send enough $ to canada and Europe. Thanks! Jim

You can send them back postage due.Thats only right. Why should a grower pay to give seeds away.In less your flithy rich. But the flithy rich dont stay rich giving it away.lol

This is all so stupid. Our post office should be able to tell us, point blank, the actual, true, exact, pure number to send any 4x7 bubble pack anywhere within the country. The fact that they have all this minutae and layers of rules shows how incompetent they are, and adds to the overall cost of using the postal service.

The incompetence is so broad that it varies from one post office to another. Why aren't we moving to an Ebay model for exchanging seeds?

The price for parcel post (no rollers) is 2.32 which is the same as last year. Many P.O.'s will let them go as an oversized envelop which is the reason for the lower prices.

What Mr. Geddes said. Some clerks are postal fundamentalists, and some are trying to give customers the best deal.
