Here in Calif. we've had to go to 8 foot straps so that they'll reach around the huge girth of our pumpkins.

If you make them to long then it can be a challenge for the loader to lift them high enough to get in a truck or trailer.My ring is 10 years old and I will need longer straps to go over 2000 lbs next year.I have a few inches to spare yet,but not a lot.I think there 5 feet now.I will keep this ring & get one with 6 foot straps for the 2200 plus kins to come.Dang burn it!Im counting them chickens again!lol

If you have a piece of steel welded to the ring for each strap then you can shorten the strap for smaller pumpkins.My ring has 3 v's welded to the ring and 6 straps. Its very adjustable.

Sorry,mines got 8 straps,18" ring ,50" inch straps. 66'' inch straps should handle a 480'' pumpkin.

Mine are 20 feet long...I have a home made lifting as well.
I use ratchet straps so I can adjust accordingly.. It works well.. You can see on my diaries

And after I`m done lifting... The same straps and ratchets.
Are used to strap down my pumpkin in my trailer..Double-Duty!!
