This coming weekend I have donated both of my fruit to a large regional festival (40,000+). I secured a person to carve/sculpt one and am at a loss on how to position the fruit upright. Does anyone have experience doing so? I'd like to have it as secure as possible for both spectators and the carver.
I have both a ring and a skid steer/w forks, but am a little intimidated on this endeavor lol.
Each pumpkin is in the 1,000-1100lbs range.
Any input/ideas would be very appreciated.

Bales of straw. Prop the pumpkin up.

We just had this situation at the Placerville Pumpkin Festival. The pumpkin weighed between 600 and 800 pounds. It was short wide and squat. The artist wanted it Leaned up against a wall on some hay bales.
Just rig the sling so that the hoop is offset and nearest the spot on the pumpkin that you want to end up on top. It will roll to the position that you want it when you lift it. Pay attention to the bottom rope and make sure that it is holding as positioned.

I fill ziplock baggies with all my leftover sand from sandbagging and use them as wedges to prop the fruits in the correct position.

I have mine on a pallet and then 3 bales of straw. When setting pumkin down make sure the bales don't split so have guys pushing them in till the weight does the job.
