yes Glenna, i concur.....very well written.....a very nice read.....Ron and Pap are one of the cornerstones of this hobby......and that has nothing to do with their records or genetics that are pushing weights to incredible sizes....it has what they have always and openly shared what they know and have learned

Thank Norm Gansert for sharing the article on Facebook.
Norm deserves the praise "Then there’s Norman Gansert of Johnston, known nationally for aesthetics — his mega-pumpkins are shapely and orange instead of looking like bleached aliens."--Ron Wallace.
Ron could have said "known INTERNATIONALLY for aesthetics."

Thanks ! Yes he did a nice job with the amount of information I was throwing at him. The one thing I made him agree upon was that if he made pumpkin growers look like a "side show" freak festival I would not do any more Projo interviews. Far too many times when doing articles on our hobby writers depict growers in a different light. I try to get them to focus on not only our weights, but what giant pumpkin growers are doing for advancements in agriculture. I always like to mention that the pumpkin community has worked together and because of that we can grow 2000 pounds of fruit on 850 sq ft!

I'd like to say that print articles and tv segments on growers often are confusing and contain erroneous information, in addition to portraying us as oddities.
The Providence Journal article was superior in regards to supplying clear and accurate facts, as well as being entertaining.
Thank you, Ron, for making sure the reporter did a great job.
