I'm not sure if the media is just fear mongering or if I should actually be concerned. Any thoughts?

If there ever was a time to secure the borders, it is now. The Ebola case is supposed to be a visitor from the epidemic area. We have a lot more to worry about than drug smugglers and undocumented workers. With some of the suicidal crazies in the world, there is no telling what they will do. A biological suicide attack is not out of the realm of possibility.

Trust me the LAST thing I want to sound like is a am radio host at 2 in the morning but we do know terrorist are willing to commit suicide to attack us. So with our lax security what's to stop them from becoming infected and entering our country from multitude of fronts

As for suicide terrorists who sacrifice themselves to kill others, apparently blowing themselves into little bits doesn't count when considering their journey to paradise. But, if their body has been desecrated by the ravages such as that of Ebola, they probably wouldn't take the chance of not qualifying for the trip to paradise. On the other hand, it alarms me to think that a country in Latin America could get it and then it would be extremely hard to hold our border secure.

Even in a pandemic situation, any one person is unlikely to contract the disease (in its current state, anyway, and it doesn't show many signs of mutation right now). An infected individual is not contagious until they become ill with symptoms, making it difficult for the virus to get very far.
It's not good news by any means, and the situation in western Africa is very unfortunate, but as it stands you should be more concerned about complications from the flu this winter.

What concerns me is how the disease made it into a highly developed country like the US.

What would happen if it made it into a highly populated country like China or India?

Not sure what you mean... Nigeria's national population density is nearly five times higher than that of the US (a dubious stat, I'll grant), and they've managed to fully contain the outbreak. Initial reports say the patient in Dallas almost certainly has not had the chance to expose anybody else to the disease, so unless he makes a break for it and commences to spitting on people, he's unlikely to be 'patient zero'.

No worries JA....too cold in Peachland in winter and too hot in the summer... Nothing can last too long there.

I think the e bola is a way bigger threat than many people think. It would not take much for the virus to mutate and be able to spread through the air. If that happens we are all in serious trouble. Yes we may be able to help people when they contract the disease. But there is no cure yet that I am aware of.

you should be more worried about the Flu. There have only been about 1200 Ebola deaths in history, The Flu kills about 30,000 every year.

I knew it was the zombie outbreak! That's why my pumpkins are small! I had it in my soil when the zombie spy's walked thru! But seriously Africa has'nt got the tools, hospitals as we do in America to deal with it. Africa is a third world country, which doctors, and shaman have a hard time dealing with it.

Ebola comes from contact with body fluids. Has a short incubation before symptoms.Kissing, sex, monkey meat(not fully cooked, contaminated food water, touching surfaces. Relatively easy to avoid with basic clean food ,water, safe sex.Not going to be a problem except in third world scenarios. Scary cause of the symptoms. Bird flu/aids much more of a problem IMHO.

3200+ deaths in the last 5 months. And that's relying on accurate reporting out of a 3rd world country which means it's probably under rated
