I have some questions about th e cuts on the tripod . How far in on the two that get cut ? How far down the boards do you cut the taper point to ?
Does anybody cut the bottoms of the 3 boards so if you want to unload them onto the yard or driveway there wont be too much damage or is unloading onto the driveway a bad idea(I,m thinking that if the boards were cut ,they might slip )?

For a reference. I just made my tripod the other day. On the end it's about 1 3/4 the thickness of a 2x4 and the length of the cut was about 5 1/2 inches for the taper length. this was for my truck which had a 57 inch bed height. The bottom of the tripod was 10' 6" wide on the side I back into.

I followed the instructions on Team-pumpkin.org. The first time I backed in to test in my driveway was perfect. See it in my diary.

I made a little metal device that made my life easy. I posted pics in my diary, but they might not show up until tomorrow. Drill one 1/2" hole on the end of the 4" x 4" or 2" x 2" square tubing and bolt it up. No cuts necessary.
