Just looking for opinions, I have seen some weigh off's in the past award this to a field pumpkin. The definition in the handbook says pumpkin.

1) Was it Howard Dill who pioneered the growing of giant FPs?
2) Definition should be changed to C.maxima "Atlantic Giant", because even "pumpkin" isn´t precise.
3) Definition might be extended to maybe 400+ lbs, that would automatically exclude FPs (for the next few years).

Definitely only for AG's. Nice looking field pumpkins are a dime a dozen, nice looking AG's are much more elusive.

In past discussions with Dianna Dill ( Howard's daughter ) she recommends Howard Dill Award should be minimum 500 pounds but it's pretty much left up to each weigh off site .

In missouri the past couple years, we didn't even have 500 pound entries due to heat so that wouldn't work. This year we will, but I do agree it should only by AGs

I guess in my mind the Howard Dill Award Goes to the Prettiest Dill's Atlantic Giant.

The Howard Dill Award should go to the prettiest Atlantic Giant and be judged by a team, not visitors. Just my opinion.

Linus who told you that I was bringing a blazing orange FP just like you see in all the pics with Charlie. But even though I won with a small AG I would be in favor of seeing the limit at 800+.

Amen Steveann! If a crowd is to judge, then they need to know the criteria. And if they get 22 votes, 10 of those can't be family members.
