See link below. I am literally picking up the squared off area in brick (patch) and moving 15 feet to the right. So on the left it will be 15 feet of replanted grass and on the right will be 15 feet of new garden.
My question is should I remove the grass now, till in or just wait till spring and turn it manually. That area was grown in 2011 and 2012, so I am hoping a year off helped it, but will the grass suffice over winter or should I remove and get Rye on it? Thanks

Grass is tough to kill with a tiller. You spread the roots and they come back. You end up wrecking the structure re-tilling several times. You have plenty of time to kill it with Roundup (glyphosate) and seed rye.

I agree with the above luke. When i started my 2nd patch on the right for rotation purposes, i tilled up the sod that was there and that tiller about killed me cutting it up. And then having to do it a few times so it wouldnt reroot. Best to round up it and plant rye then. Eric
