Leave it on as long as you can , it will start losing weight as soon as you cut it off , it might still be growing inside , i don't cut mine off to the day i load it up for the weigh off . Good Luck

Many guys on the much more competitive level than myself cut at the very last second. They also keep extra vine attached to the stem from the main on both sides or just one. During transportation they have the vines inserted into gallons (of I assume water). The idea is once you cut it from the vine it will gradually start losing weight, but if you keep it on the viable main vine or even a secondary it should keep growing or at least not start losing.

neaner unfortunately growth on the inside after the outside has stopped giving you measurements is minimal at best. two weeks is not that long to hold the fruit in the patch so heres what i would consider. 1. cut away half the sides now and dispose of them ( if it rains ? this will help keep it from splitting) 2. keep the fruit covered with a sheet in the day time and sheet again at night ( no blankets cause you want the fruit to stay cool once it has stopped growing) 3.listen to what smallmouth luke, bubba and bruce said as well.
