Does a 105 day pumpkin typically weigh more than a 90 day pumpkin that is the same size? Even if the pumpkin isn't getting larger, is it getting heavier? Does the ripening process add weight? I was kinda hoping someone has compiled some data on this. Thanks in advance for any insight.

most do but not all unscientific results ive done for 4-5 yrs now. weighing some on vine at various ages on about 20 pumpkins one thing I seen on those that kept gaining pounds was each inch was more of a 20 lb gain instead of what chart had of 7-10 lbs or so .

Nice kin this year, as usual. I like your cloche design too.

I have a loose theory that cooler temperatures, at least on my patch when outward growth stops or slows up that the pumpkins do keep on growing when left on the vine as long as possible. They inevitably tend to go heavy. I had one like this in 2011 and 2013, both 14% heavy and one this year heading the same way. I know I'm not acknowledging heavy genetics, just a theory. Maybe certain weather signals a change in growth.
