Did anyone use a 2328 seed from Beni Meier's enormous pumpkin? Or are there any seeds available??
I didn't see much info about the damaged 2328....

I believe there are only 2 pumpkins left growing. You can see mine in my diary.
We will have a LOT of 2328 crosses. The one I didn't have part in is 2328 sib***
I know we have the following still going on 2328: (2) 2328 x self (we cloned the 2328 plant) 2328 x 2009 2328 x 1676 2328 x 1623 1476 Hopkins x 2328** 1623 x 2328** 2009 x 2328** 1783 x 2328 1623 x 2328** (yes another one) 1623 x 2328 (yup, one more....unfortunately mine without **)
And I know I'm missing a few.
The ones with the ** are that way for a reason.... :)
The 2328 is a game changer. You don't grow a pumpkin 5 years ahead of the current WR and not have a game changer. And I believe any remaining doubters will be believers here in the next month or so. That's no disrespect to Tim as he earned his WR. I hope the crosses we've made can help push the hobby ahead even faster.

Ah. thx!
Very interesting. I agree - the 2328 appears to be quite the feat! I am very interested to see what the crosses produce!
Chris. Any chance on getting in line for a 2328 cross seed for 2015??
Cheers. Ryan

i don't need to re-read anything :) What i am saying is that if you give a certain amount of the same seed to top growers in the world...something should be grown off it

If Chris still has any plant still growing I am going to try with my professor at college to keep some going over the winter to use in the summer. so I would like to try to add some more potential crosses to the mix. especially a 1495 x 2328

Correct, Smallmouth. With the appropriate assumptions in place:
1. the pumpkins have seeds 2. the pumpkins make it to scale 3. the growers are willing to share the bounty with the SCGA)
we would expect to make these crosses part of our annual premium seed collection, our auction night, and available as stand-alone purchases on our website.

When I knew my competitive season was over I made it one of my primary goals to get some great seed off of the 2328. I do really feel bad about Beni trusting in my growing skills and me failing miserably. It stings.
So yes. Assuming there are many seeds we will do the best we can to distribute in a way I hope can satisfy most everyone.
So thanks again to Beni for the seed. Scott for investing lots of time and effort into making the clone happen, and the other growers for trusting the cross.
There are going to be some whoppers with x 2328 crosses.

Thanks to Chris & John Hopkins I was able to cross the 2328 into the 1779.5 Werner. As of today the estimated weight is a little over 1600 lbs.
