Dandytown

Nottingham, UK

An end of season ramble.........

From time to time I see my username and wonder why the hell I chose it. It holds no meaning to me just something I came up with to avoid the 'username unavailable' message.

What do your usernames mean to you?

9/11/2014 4:13:59 AM

Pumpking

Germany

In my case...an abbreviation of "PUMPKINGrower", what else?!

9/11/2014 4:23:00 AM

LL

New Richmond WI

A pumpkin friend called me LL ... easier than Lorelee ... I liked being given a nickname.

9/11/2014 5:56:38 AM

LB

Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

I'm just lazy and used my initials

9/11/2014 6:37:56 AM

big moon

Bethlehem CT

Dandytown I am glad I am not the only one who feels the way you do, Mine holds zero meaning to me too. I just chose it because Big Max was taken and I wanted to use a pumpkin variety as a username. My family always tells me that my username is terrible. But I have been big moon on here since day one, why change it now?

Deal With It

I chose my name because I live in Claremore, OK, and I'm largely inept with growing giants. Maybe I'll adopt a new moniker once I manage to top Oklahoma's "sitting duck" AG record of 880 pounds...in 2018.

cavitysearch

BC, Canada

OK Kathy
Like everyone I needed a name to sign in with. At the time and I don't remember the exact details or names, but there was a weigh off, Cailf.?, where there was a big debate about a hole in a pumpkin entry. After some poking and prodding with a wire it was determined that the hole did go to the cavity and the pumpkin was disqualified. I think there were some hard feelings for a while and it caused a lot of chatter here on BP. I thought to my self."Wow, they'll be calling in border guards to do cavity searches next!" I love a smile in the face of problems and in this hobby we are always bent over looking for cavities.

Pumpkin Shepherd

Georgetown, Ontario

Years ago I worked at a lawn care company called Shepherd Lawn Care. I bought the company when the owner retired. Since my last name isn't Shepherd (although many customers still call me Mr Shepherd) and I was raised on a sheep farm, we changed the logo to a sheep. Since I look after pumpkins I am also a Pumpkin Shepherd. Some nights I do just stand there and watch over the patch (and usually cry....but that's a whole other issue).

Rookiesmom

Arden, NC

Rookiesmom: Had a drop dead beautiful german shepherd named Rookie who developed cancer. I took her to U Tenn vet school so much that I spent hours in the waiting room while Rookie was being treated. Whenever a technician would come out into the waiting room they would call for "Rookiesmom" to give me an update on her status. I was just getting online at the time so I adopted the "handle" Rookiesmom. Man,I miss my Rookie, she's been gone 10 years now.

Dyberry Patch

Honesdale Pa USA

My patch is where the town of Dyberry used to be, The Army Corps of Engineers built a dam to prevent flooding in the county seat of Honesdale, The town of Dyberry was in the flood plain and was totally removed. A pretty good spot to grow other than on the rare occasions that the water backs up to my patch! My dad remembers going to the town on a horse and wagon when he was a kid in the 30's. So in the early 70's he bought 4 acres where the town used to be. He says it was the best buy he ever made. I agree!
