I have read several times that very experienced growers let the tertiaries take off this time of year. I am wondering if this only applies to plants that have lost a lot of leaves to disease. I started letting my tertiaries go, but what I am getting is a very "crowded looking" plant. My plant is mostly healthy. All of these leaves are restricting are movement which to me seems like I'm setting up an invitation for powdery mildew. AM I wrong? Opinions would be helpful. thanks Kathy

your call based on what you see, if the plant is that thick with secondaries ( and they are healthy lookin?) then possibly you could keep trimming third stage growth)
we like a bit of new growth because its signals that the plant is still productive.
