Hey guys!
I don't chime in often with questions because i can normally find the right answer on this wonderful site. Im an amateur with a PB of only 562lbs. This year my kin is over 700lbs at 49 dap with 33 days till my weigh off.
So my question is. Can i roll a fruit on its side thats 800 to 1000lbs safely to tip it back onto a pallet? (like i have done with smaller 500lb fruit). Or is it much safer to lift it strait up with a harness. I cant afford a lifting ring or a nice kin tarp but i still hope there's a safe way to do it.
Its my only fruit and my PB so i don't want to take any chances. Thanks for any help!!

P.S. The fruit is tall and shaped like a block (i named it ice block)That might make a difference if its safe to tip it on its side! Thanks so much! All you guys are awesome!!!

Get in touch with the Wisconsin Giant Pumpkin Growers. Somebody must be near to you who can let you borrow a lifting ring.

I'd hate to see your pumpkin be disqualified or damaged before transport.

We tip them all the time, as there is no other way to get them out of the patch. Once tipped they go in to a wheeled pallet and out the gate. You will find that when they get bigger than 1,000 they are difficult to tip. Just make sure they do not continue to go over.

I'm a Poor pumpkin boy to. But here's what I did. But I would use a chain hoist, the winch was a waste of money. Plus longer 4x4 <]:)

bringing back bad memories :(
Cracked a 900+ about 10 years ago by resting it on my knee while getting the pallet under it.
IMO best if you can lift with straps
I might know where a strap lifter can be borrowed
contact me if interested

Linus,
I would be curious to see what your wheeled pallet looks like - type of wheels you used and all. If you get a chance, would you post a picture of it?
Thanks -
Betsy
