I have nice kin approaching 1K lbs, about 900 sq. ft of healthy green plant behind pumpkin, stump looks good but gains have slowed to about 5 lbs/day. Plant after pumpkin is pale green with smaller leaves around 150 sq. ft. Would I be better off cutting the vine a few feet past pumpkin to try and boost growth down the stretch? I'm guessing that having this much plant after kin is taking some energy away from kin?

Just terminate the tips if you havent already. Your prob low on nitrate-had same thing three weeks ago(confirmed by tissue test). I used two ounces of cal-nitrate on a 1000 sq ft plant three times in a week. The new growth greened right up.That new growth after the fruit will help feed the pumpkin late.

Add nitro and prune the tertiaries along with checking for small female fruits. Cojoe and Bubba know what they're talking about. Trust them.
