West Paris Me.

We are going to get temps close to 90 Wednesday. Would it be a good idea to put a blanket on the fruit to prevent it from getting too hot?

Putting a blanket on a pumpkin during 90 degree temps would make it even hotter. Try using thin white sheets or a tarp.

Pumpkins are not warm blooded, thickness of blakent does not matter as long as it is white. I would not use a tarp.

So. Maine

With the temps we have been receiving in Maine most of the summer I have to agree with Kathy 90 degrees can be considered high heat .

Last week we had a couple of days it never got higher than the 60's .

It's Not our fault .

Cold doesn't sound good either. Hights not above 60s sounds bad for Aug.

Very bad for August especially when we had 90 degree weather at pollination time. Killed my early pollinations. Couldn't get anything going for a while. Now cool temps in August lets not forget a ridiculous amount of rain. Quite a year!

We're the opposite TNorange (Kreig), I just want to move further south when I retire. Probably Arkansas, Tennessee or the Missouri\Ark border in Ridgedale,Mo on Table Rock Lake. I have other priorities!

90 is cool. 103 in downtown nashville this afternoon when I left work. I'm east of there a little, I think it was 95 today. 80% humidity, air so thick you could cut it with a knife. Heavy air and thick early mroning fogs in august cause lots of powdery mildew.

I've got asthma, it is really hard to breath in humidity like that. It sucks the life out of you.

I hear you there. It dropped down to 8 degrees C again last night. We have been covering our kins at night with blankets & sheets. It has been one of the coldest summers that I can ever remember since we started growing giants. Hopefully Sept will be warmer & we can put on some much needed pounds before weigh off day. Good luck to you all.

I've been putting blankets on mine as well. We have gotten a lot of nights in the 50s some high 40s to low 50's. Crazy to have temps throughout August where you need blankets.
