proper conduct at a weigh-off.

some of you have felt this very way at one time or another. here are a couple helpful hints to make yourself and others feel at home. what other suggestions might you have. come on now lets hear it.

1.if you got a big one? show up at the last minute so everyone can see you. wear a big hat to.
2.if you got a small one? show up early and get lost in the crowd when they weigh yours. get a hot dog.
3.if you got a big one be sure to call all local news media
--- invite them to your house as well
4.if you got a small one? take your picture next to a big one --- in a hundred years no one will know.
5.for gods sake dress like a farmer even if you grow in your back yard. ya gots ta look the part.

Excellent Pap! In preparation for the weigh-off, when my friends and family get all excited about my (small to mid-sized) pumpkin(s). I let them down easy by saying that these are the ones that are used to warm up the scale for the real competitors.

I HAVE TOLD THIS STORY BEFORE BUT ITS TRUE AND BEARS REPEATING.MY FIRST WEIGHOFF WAS AT COLLINS NEW YORK IN 1989.

I GOT THERE REALLY EARLY AND SAW SEVERAL PUMPKINS LAID OUT AROUND A BUILDING. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED MINE WAS JUST A BIT SMALLER AND THOUGHT" HEY I GOT A CHANCE IM JUST A BIT SMALLER THAN THOSE"

ONLY TO COME BACK IN A HOUR TO SEE THESE MASSIVE SPECIMINS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
THE ONES I FIRST SAW? THEY WERE THE PETTING PATCH PUMPKINS.GO FIGURE-LOL

GORDON THOMPSON WON THAT WEIGHOFF WITH A NEW WORLD RECORD 700 PLUS POUNDER.
PAP---HIS PUMPKIN WEIGHED A MASSIVE 125 LBS.
