I shaded a squash under a makeshift wooden table and noticed that the area just under the wood is now white (a little sun gets through to the front and back).
I removed the table two weeks ago and it looks as if the white patch is there to stay. I can see green underneath and wonder what others thoughts are?
First time growing a squash so I wonder if it will affect it being judged as a squash.
Posted to diary, should be up soon. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryView.asp?season=2014&grower=55348&action=L
Thanks

Can you get a better picture of the top?

If you're referring to the white band running down the left side between the ribs, I think you're fine. Minimal amounts of white striping are acceptable.
Am I correct in saying that the area on top of the pumpkin is just sunlight/reflection on the fruit when you took the image?

i cant see why anyone would question ----- that is a green squash.some white and or fading is going to happen in many green squash. some around the bottom as well.
if it had yellow or orange in it ? then no it would not be a true greenie. pap

I completely agree pap and thanks for the imput.
1320: Yep, it's the white on top I'm referring to and what you're seing seed is unfortunately not due to sunlight or reflection. I wish it was.
I wonder if there is something in the wood that affected the skin closest to it which would be the area in question.
I'll get a birds eye view picture loaded up tomorrow
