Hello all, had a quick question, my kin is growing weird this year. The front of it is nice and tall with deep ribs, from about middle back its is half as tall and smooth still. What is this kin trying to tell me?

I have seen this on plants that have a problem, such as nutrient deficiency or disease or injury. One of our plants that survived the flash flood this June didn't have any manure or compost, just chemical fertilizers. It was slow to bounce back and has fruit that tapers down towards the blossom. I think the fertilizer leached out. The one with lots of manure recovered and is growing normally. In the past I have had plants put out fruit like that and then died from root rot.
