I put some stuff under the pumpkin when it set an now it is growing off of it! Can I just put sand all around it an let grow on to the sand! Thanks

Yes, and don't be afraid to use your best sifter in the kitchen to have fine sand.

I would try to get as much sand under it as I could , I don't know what you have under it right now but you need something to keep the bottom dry and well drained . I use the white play sand you can buy at Lowes.
