milford, CT,

My 2032 Mathison is growing over the top of the blossom end. Eventually I think the blossom end will be touching the ground. The fruit is nice and level..it is a wide fruit. It would be great if anyone has any feedback on whether this is going to be an issue later on...Also any advice on things to watch. My worry is that eventually I won't be able to inspect the blossom end..Mark

I have an 1894 Mathison that is doing the same. You have to get on your knees to see the blossom end.

Let her grow over ...that seems to be the safest. it takes all of the pressure off of the blossom! We prefer this!

My 1674 Marsh is completely grown over its blossom end.. can't see it now. I just kept sand under it end tried elevating in the beginning. It's only 400 and is all but done growing for the 150 sq foot patch.

Get a layer of sand in there while you still can. The rest is up to the pumpkin gods

once in a great while the button could stick out and touch ground .then push in as weight is put on it
cut the blossom off in that case

I've done well a few times with this. My 2032 is going over too. Your fruit sounds like mine, let's hope for wide and heavy!

Mark,

This happened to me last season. I simply cut the blossom off and applied fungicide and everything was fine. Good luck my friend, you have a real nice one growing there. Give me a call if you have any questions.

milford, CT,

Thanks guys,
I think I got lucky on the blossom...it is a tiny button..it shouldn't play into any problems. Never had one this shape and just wanted to make sure I did everything I could to avoid any future problems. Thank again!!
