My goal for a long time has been to grow 1000 lbs I almost did it in 2012 with 926 and this year I'm wondering if my kin could make it? Tonight it tapped 250 pounds it has been averaging around 13-15 pounds over the last couple weeks. It low gains but it has been very cool at night. I'm currious to what people think as to if I could grow enough in August and September to make 1000?

My 929 (from 2012) taped about 210 lbs on July 30th (when the fruit was 31 DAP). It added 14-16 lbs a day during the following 4 weeks and then the daily gains decreased. Finally (end of September) the fruit taped less than 900 lbs but went some % heavy. Hence, 1000 lbs isn´t impossible, you need good luck, a healthy plant, friendly weather in August and September and then probably a fruit which goes some % heavy. Good Luck!

Blanket the pumpkin at night and you should have no problem reaching 1,000 lbs.

Man that's going to be tough if your only doing 15 pounds a day at day 35. I am sure its different everywhere based on environmental conditions. but My experience is Day 30-40 are the biggest daily weight gains and then things slowly start to taper off from there. Do you have records of what your previous pumpkin did per day over different periods of time? That would probably give you the best idea of what you could expect. If you can keep the plant healthy enough to grow for 100 days that gives you 65 days to grow and you would need to average 11.5 per day to get to 1000. 15 days at 15#, 15 days at 13#, 15 days at 11 #, 15 days at 9# and 5 days at 6# would get you to 1000 pounds on day 100.

my 1195 from 2011 was 200 or so pounds on day 30 350 or so on day 40, never did 30 pounds a day, max was 25 pounds but at day 100 it was still doing 5-7 pounds a day, so it is not at all impossible for you to reach 1000 pounds just keep the plant healthy

Mn has been very cool recently, even by MN standards. If it warms up your daily gains will go up. Cool temps should also keep the fruit growing later into the summer. At least that is what I keep telling myself on these 50 degree mornings as my pumpkins fall behind the benchmarks...
