I want to use round up to get the little weeds but have never did it!...kinda afraid too...how do you spray by the kins with out hurting them?

No wind, coarse spray so there is less drift and shield the plant. I have used a cheap plastic snow shovel for a shield while using a backpack sprayer. Be ready to rinse off your plant if you have an accident.

some people use a paint roller soaked in weed killer to get around the leaves and under them

Don't risk it. Just pull the weeds by hand the old fashioned way.

A small bucket with the mix in it of you're preferred weed killer and a cheap paint brush works good also you can add a stick for extra reach...
