I set a pumpkin on the main vine 5 days ago it's growing great!!! The problem is it's only about 10 feet from the stump!!! Is that two close or should I keep him on there or cut him off fan try again?? Thanks

Keep it, set another and wait to see which one grows best. 10' is not too close.

Try to keep it. Your 70 days from end of September.Later sets will cost days of growth.

Average pumpkin according to the statistics is 10-14 feet out on the main. World record 1725 was set at 9 feet. I think a lot of it depends on how big your plant is and like Joe said, what point of the season you are at.
