The below link has a pic of a 13 DAP that has shown rough skin the whole time. The pic is hard to tell, but that side (left) is lowered and is really rough and bumpy. Any ideas on the cause or even more curious if anyone has dealt with this and had success? It looks like one aborting but grows 4-5 inches every day.
Stem split is another yearly battle and a different topic.

Luke, I had one back in 2011 like that on the bottom of a kin. The pumpkin was growing fast except for that area of the bottom, you can check out the pic on the link below if you want. Not saying yours will be stunted in that mottled area too. Good Luck with it...I think you need a GPC 1st place plaque for stem splits..man I hate seeing that. Good luck with it again!! http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=168740

Luke,
Most of the pumpkins I've had that look really odd early on abort, not always though. I've had them get to a couple hundred pounds before aborting.
Does the plant have any other odd characteristics? Does it produce males? Do the males produce pollen?

The males are fine on it, although I know some others growing the same seed and did have issues with males and aborts.
