does anyone place a bottle/tray of ice near the female after hand pollination? I read some have success with it.
I hand pollinate. Rubbing the male bit over the entire female but have had only a 30%. Success rate. I do it earlyin the morning with fresh newly opened male/females and tie up the female blossom but have low success. Any input/suggestions are welcome.

IF temps are going to be upper 80's or into the 90's F the day you pollinate set a frozen jug of ice from a plastic jug next to the female after you pollinate it and set a larger plastic pail upside down over both the ice jug and female fruit .
Shade the fruit a couple days ahead of opening IF it's hot and repeat the ice setting the following day IF the temps are going to stay hot .
Normally works , shade & cooling .

Thanks guys. I will try it. I stopped using paint brush because of all the pollen left on the bristles. But for getting the pollen into nooks it makes sense.

hal be sure the pollon is dry.even though you cove them they can be damp. we take our males in the house or lay them on a surface in the sun for several minutes before use. on hot days we do use a small fan and then a small table over the new pollination. have used frozen bottles a couple times in the past. this works during extreme heat. pap
