Only in Colorado can you have a 101 degree day and that evening have the ground covered in ice. Thermometer topped out at 101 degrees this afternoon. It was still at 90 degrees when I last checked at 7:00. Then at about 8:40 I heard frequent lightning. I looked out the window to the north and there was a wall of green clouds moving fast towards me. 10 minutes one of the strongest wind storms I've seen at the house hit. It ripped the 6 mil fabric off the hoop houses on the side of the patch. Thankfully I have hail netting over the patch and the plants did fairly well from what I could see in the dark. Some holes in the leaves on the north side of the patch and on the west, but the damage was much less than it could have been. Felt very blessed for that.

Hail was about a dime to quarter sized. The hail netting had a lot of it pile up and in places it was getting stretched to close to its limit but it held. Grass had a fair amount of hail piled up in it and I would never would have guessed with clear skies and 100 temps at 4:00 this afternoon that I would be stepping through ice as I walked through the lawn today.

I was hoping you would be okay Wiz. Looked like the storm was heading a little more east of you and it was loosing steam after it centered on my patch.

The rain came down so hard it slit the leaveZ on the tender growth....and I had a river run through one patch on the end...more sun and heat today.....
