why spray? when you can soil drench it? The less you spray on your leafs the longer they will last.Chemicals put wear and tear on the leaf.Dont eat for at least 30 days. Some of the food you buy at the supermarket has been treated with merit,30 day residual.

We do eat the pumpkin flowers and we treat with merit. The only thing I've noticed is a slight twitch in my youngest child head and hair on my wife's chest. Other then that, everything seems to be just fine.

http://www.flora.org/healthyottawa/merit-pesticide-insecticide-grub.htm Maybe read this link before breaking out the recipe books. These pesticides are poisons, they kill living creatures, not just the bad bugs.
Don't matter if you spray or drench, a poison is a poison. Extremely toxic to honey bees, causes deformed sperm and apathy. I'm sure there is a great joke is just these three side effects alone. I'll leave it to your imagination. Go ahead and use, just depends on how long you want your children to be healthy. Sorry to hear about that SO. Cal, but at least the bug are gone! Apologies if this sounds a little harsh, but once again, for your safety, your family's safety, community, neighbors, environment etc. PLEASE always read the label of any pesticide thoroughly before using, and remember that more is not better.

Read and follow label instructions. In soil pre harvest interval for squash and pumpkins seems to be 21 days.

I haven't cared about my sperm count for quite a while and if they swim in circle's that's OK too,but I don't want the wifes back to be as hairy as mine.
I spray in the evening to save the bees, but i know its still bad for them .I didn't figure it would be a good idea to try it,I know some pesticides and dicease controls have different wait periods depending on the crop they are sprayed on,was hoping for a loop hole I guess.
Darn it they are delicious..

We cook them like zucchini, either grilled or pan fried with garlic salt. They have a nice nutty flavor. But I don't use systemic insecticides.

Why not just grow pumpkins for the flowers only and skip the pesticides.

There is a great market in my area for pumpkin flowers and vine tips....I'd be money ahead catering to these folks than trying to grow a pumpkin....

No I havent eaten any of the blossoms, didnt really have enough open ones to make it worth it.
I sprayed merit last year every 14 to 20 days and still lost a plant to svb, at first I thought it was foaming but it was rot due to svb in the stump, dug out around 8 of them http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=206821
I asked this because I figured I wouldnt eat them for years and then someone would say "didnt you know the blossoms arent effected" and then I would have a dumb founded look on my face, its happened before
