For those of you who use mill fabric under the pumpkin and drip tape to water, do you put the drip tape under the mill fabric, on top of the mill fabric or just simply move them to the side? Thinking if water is under the pumpkin it can cause an issue? Thanks. Ray

I cut it perfectly around the pumpkin once I see where its going to set. One piece may run across the mill fabric on each side but that usually gets moved too as the pumpkin grows......
Be interesting to see what others do.

In high humidity and hot area like Missouri, we go far around to avoid any rot or moisture under the pumpkin.

We run the lines under the pumpkins no prob. I trench the drip a few inches into the soil under the fabric.

I get some 1 inch pvc pipe or similar pipe and cut the length about 4-5 foot. Drill 1/8" holles along the entire length for drainage. ( you can drill as many holes as you want, just make sure they are on the bottom when installing).
You then have to un-hook the drip tape on one side and slide the pipe over the driptape to where you think the pumpkins final resting place will be. Be sure to spin the pipe so the drainage holes are on the under side of the pipe. Next, I will step on the pipe to press it down into the soil a little, then put down my mill fabric or sand if i am using only sand.
Using this method, you will not be sitting on, and crushing the tape. It will not hurt the tape to have all that weight on it, but i want water to get to whatever is out past my pumpkin.
