I hope my pride and joy makes it through this storm. Too big for a hoop house. Any suggestions other than burying vine?

cover the pumpkins with a double sheet in case of hail pray wind protection is kinda useless because if its a strong wind? could blow over and damage plants even more. basicly id just do whatever i needed to do to protect the fruit and hope that the plant will survive. pap

Thanks Pap. I was debating on covering the whole plant with deer netting. It would tie everything together but could be a hot mess to remove

I've been in patch all day cleaning up Arthurs mess.... Wind breaks far enough away that if they topple, they don't land on pumpkins. I lost a boat load of leaves on the 710 Wagler, and 'something' flew through and gouged a nice chunk out of it. Already treated it. Did my best to keep kins dry, but 45-75 mph winds make it virtually impossible. Good luck, over all they came through decent. If the one section of wind break hadn't failed I think they would have come through alright. In the areas where it stayed up the plants got blown around a bit, but only a few leaves lost. The poor 710 was right in front of the section that failed...about 3/4 of the leaves went bye bye. :{:{ Over all I'd have to say I got blessed as hell to not have lost them all.

A few broken leaves but made it through the storm. I taped a few large tarps together and weighed I down to have support and it worked great. Thought the season was over.
