Tomorrow is day ten and my numbers are going to be very small. Factors why I think that is had a nitrogen deficiency and I'm now fixing it. Temperature has been very rainy and cold. ...my question is can I or could I still grow a pumpkin over 1000 lbs and possibly 1400?

Pumpkins are like people. Some start out fast and keep on going. Some fizzle out. Some are slow to start and finish strong, You won't know for sure unless you ride it out to the end of the race.

I don't look at Day 10 or day 20 its day 30 + that I look at. Like Iowegian said each kin is different, last year I grew 5 some were tiny day 10 some were Huge day 10 my smallest was softball on day 20 I figured it was slowly aborting then took off day 30 and ended up at 950.5 Lbs Dave

The 1678 Hunt 09 was only 51" on day 20. Day 10 and 20 numbers don't matter too much.

1725 Harp if I remember was only 19 inch on D10. It depends how big your plant is. I set my kins early and now how problems with nutrient levels. Waiting on tissue test. Plants have slowed and are smaller sized now. My D10 are horrible around 20 inches....I have had D20 pumpkins estimate 80 pounds and a 1421 stelts in 2010 that estimated 217 pounds at D20...it split...Be happy it is growing...

Jason I think it was 17". And yes to your question. Some of the genetics has a bit of delay in the growth curve. 1400 isn't out of the question.I don't even measure young pumpkins anymore -other than to make sure sure theyre set.

if its on the main, out the required distance, no deformities in the lobes, i go with it. ten days is nothing to measure or worry about.
as long as it does not abort? your in the game.

My 2 cents: Christie Harp was WAY behind early in the season according to charts with her world record pumpkin. But when the fruit took off...you know the rest of the story.

Last year all mine were between 22 and 36 inches. This year I'm between 15 and 17 inches. I'm thinking it's mostly heat and plant size related. I had one two years ago that was 15 inches day 10 75lbs day 20 and ended up being my best pumpkin and was on pace for 1400 but split day 50 at 900

My day 10 measurements are smallest yet, but my plant leaves could set records themselves. I'm hoping the plants is done and starts putting energy into the fruit.
