Sorry to hear about your unfortunately weather related problems. Don't count your plants out yet. However do take time to enjoy your summer.

Iowegian,
Wow! That is devastating. I'm glad that you didn't suffer injury or greater loss. I hope that something in your garden is salvageable.
Wishing you a better summer.

Now we have 80 mph winds due here in less than half hour. I hope the trellis holds up. only 1 AG and 1 field pumpkin are still in the ground. The rest ripped out by the roots. And more heavy rain is coming. At least our house is 30' higher than the floodplain.

The storm hit just about 5 minutes after my last post. We were lucky to be in our deep little valley. No damage to our house but I haven't been able to see if we lost any trees in our 10 acres of woods. The town of Anamosa didn't fare so well. Big maple trees were snapped off and 150 year old oaks were uprooted all over town. Our electricity was off for 14 hours. A big dam upstream from us overtopped and nearly washed out. We got a second flood at dark and I haven't had a chance to see if the gourds survived. Other towns in the area were hit as bad or worse. One person died in Fairfax. 2 kids were swept into a storm sewer in Cedar Rapids. One emerged alive a mile away in a lake the other is still missing. A tree squished a car 4 parking places away from my daughter's car at her job in Iowa City. There is a lot of major flooding around, highways 1 and 151 and lots of rural roads are washed out. I just thank God that we are all safe here.

Insane weather! Seems like anymore its either a drought or flood year, with not much normal in between.

Mark - so sorry to see your patch get thrashed. Hoping at least your LG's survived
