This is my first year growing them on the ground instead of a trellis. Im giving the plant 150 square feet.How far out on the main should I try to set one(can grow main to 16 ft). Do they set on the main?

From what Ive read, they set on the secondarys. But I dont know much..

They set on the secondaries like a long gourd. I would assume the farther out the better. Mine have always been around 8-10 feet out with as much plant behind the gourd as possible.
