Hello Everything was fine a couple days ago and now just about all the ends of the vines have this same look, now new growth on one of my plants has a mottled yellow stunted look to it. I think it could be mosaic virus but I am not sure. Has anyone seen it before? Thanks

Hard to see from your pic. Did you spray or dreanch with any systemics days prior to symptoms. I ask because it looks like plants I have.however I don't have yellow stunted looking tips. I get that look on leaves a couple days after I treat plants with strong dose of infuse/imocloprid. Hope ur plants turn around for you.

I got hit with mosaic a few years ago and lost almost everything - yours does not look look mosaic to me. My mosaic was carried by cuke beetles, have you had cuke beetles on the plants?
We have had cool weather here in western NY and I'm sure it is cooler in Ontario. I'd give it a shot of Neptunes Harvest - this week it should warm up and then I bet it will green up.

Thanks for the answers, I sprayed for cuke beetles a couple weeks ago, but nothing since, I have 2 plants back to back and the other is fine. I pollinated it on June 20th and then a couple days later this happened.

I had mosaic many times in the past. Keep an eye on your plant the next week. It is hard to see in the picture but it could possibly be the start of mosaic. Time will tell for sure, it will either get worse if it is mosaic or go away if it is burn or something else. Good luck.

Did you spray your new growth...always a NO NO to hit the vine tips.

I hope mine is a no no. Lol. ... and not the other ugh! If I don't kill um the bugs will. No cucumber beetles yet but squash bugs i have abundance of and I have seen many plants stop dead in there trax. Yellow vine decline. Never seen it like my diary pics. It seems to me that it is ironic that I sprayed the plants with infuse and some blossom fertilizer and all the plants look sick but I expected them to be somewhat injured from all the bug sprays I've had on them last week as well. Time will tell. Good luck to you I hope you succeed in a personal best.

I never sprayed the vine tips. I hope everyone is right and it is nothing viral. Good Luck to everyone this season.

I hate to be the one who is the negative one, but to me this looks like mosaic virus.
Based on my experience it looks like the older leaf in this picture has the mottled look to it... http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=220210
The best way to confirm it is to look at the actual pumpkins even if the flowers have not opened yet. For giant pumpkins the immature female is typically a yellow-ish color, if you see any green streaks this is a sign that you have mosaic. Also, if the pumpkin is about 12 days old it may get some bumps on it. Lastly if the pumpkin is over 20 days old you may never see any signs in the actual pumpkin even though the leaves will be mottled.

Plant that was infected after the pumpkin reached 20-days old: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=190092
The exact type of virus has to be confirmed in a lab as there are about 13+ different types of virus that generally all look the same. Some of residual of only 1 year others can be over 20 years.
On the bright side even though you may take a loss this year, if you have a virus that has a low residual you can be "clean" next year.

Hello Matt D. I have been waiting to see if you would reply. While searching the site for mosaic virus, I found your diary from 2012 and noticed the similarities which led me to believe it might be mosaic virus. I will keep an eye on the pumpkins and if need be, pull the plant out. Thanks

Sorry for the reply delay, my e-mail box(es) have been very busy so I am not able to check all of the postings on bigpumpkins.
If you do end up removing the plant please take the extra step of washing your hands and tools with a milk solution to reduce the odds of spreading the virus to other plants. In many cases by time you see it in one plant it is to late as the others are already infected, but at least this can potentially reduce the spread. I have attached a link below that studies Tobacco Mosaic virus which has the longest residual time. While this may not be the news you were hoping for at least getting a positive ID is important.

Did you ever figure out what that plant had? I have one too that looks like your leaves but I think it is downy mildew. I've been spraying mine in hopes it turns around.
