Put out 2 plants. One was in cold frame with heater and temp control, the other was transplanted with no protection. Cold frame plant was doing great. Plant with no protection, not so good.Weather finally warmed up so I took cold frame off. Next day we get a wind storm while I was at work. Cold frame plant only has 20% of its leaves left. Plant with no protection has no damage at all. The moral of the story- If you spoil your kids then let them out in the real world, life will kick their ass!!!

weird we use a cold frame every year, and this year we added shade cloth and misters (I think this constitutes babying them). Have had 3 high wind (50 plus mph )storms with only 5 leaves broken over. Plants have 30 inch plus leaves, coke can sized stumps, have nearly filled the 30x 30 space they have been allotted, and have a pumpkin on the main at 15 plus feet on all of them on Jun 19th...we are at least 2 weeks ahead of normal.
