Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle
|
I spoke with a couple people this morning about this, but the verdict was hard to get without photos. In my diary, (link below) is a picture of the stem crack in the 1546 Shenoha kin. 3 days ago I was checking the stem and noticed a crack, with amber colored goo and a slight amount of rot in the crack of the stem. Carefully pared the crack down to just a thin hair line, then packed it with copper/sulfate powders. This morning the powder looked wettish so I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide (the white bubbly looking discharge is hydrogen peroxide bubbles)scraped the crack out lightly and then packed it with chlorothalonil this time. I also added a fan to the mix to help it keep dry-dry in this god awful humidity. It's under cover, so no danger of rain or dew. The flesh of the stem wasn't soft anywhere this time. Verdict? Advice? This pumpkin is really moving along, sweating, growing like mad, all that good jazz, I don't want to lose it because I didn't everything needed. Grateful if you would look at the picture and reply please. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=219409
