I am not sure why this happens but it's been like this since the first true leaf. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=219209

Just visited someones plant asked me the same question, I checked and the stump was soft and rotting below the soil line. You know its root related, just what kind of root problem.

I'd also check the whole main. It reminds me of how a plants looks 20 minutes after you sever a vine but don't pull it. Probably too early for borers to have done significant damage?

Root rots are going to be a major problem across the rain soaked midwest. if the soil is saturated in your patch it is going to be an uphill battle. dig some drainage trenches and keep up with the fungicides and hope for dryer weather.

It looks like normal flagging cause by to much water water and high bright, dry days after the rains. If you spray the leaves with water it should perk right up. If not rots of the stump and vine can occur. Watch the vine and leaves for color changes. Last year I lost my 2009 Wallace to a vine rot which started at the stump and went down the vine. A brown color in the main leaves was the indicator.

Looks like normal flagging. Is that the 1067 Box?
