The 1725 Harp grew at 9.5 ft, hence it cannot be bad. Many big ones grew in between 11 and 17 ft, but that doesn´t mean that 13 ft should be much much better than 9 ft, it could mean that many more growers have decided to stick with a keeper at that position and they simply don´t know what the same plant might have produced at 9 ft. As soon as you have 14 strong secondaries on the main vine between stump and fruit (14 secondaries which can be kept during the whole season and which can continue to grow for some months, bear in mind you might have to remove 2 of the secondaries which are too close to the fruit), then a 9ft position should already be fine.
