Hi,
On one young plant I already have a stem split near the soil.It's dry and doesn't seem to bother the plant (for now).Should (can) I do something about it?
Somewhere I've read that you can put a little pile of soil over it and the plant would grow roots there and the stem split is covered and gone.
Good idea?
Thanks in advance for any reaction!

You want to keep it dry. Also keep the plant tied down so the wind cant do any more damage. Clear plastic over the crack to keep the rain out may help.

I wouldn't bury, I'd let it scar over first by giving air and keeping dry. I have taken two 6"x6" boards and made a 90 degree roof in the past to keep dry but let air circulate. I also put a little Daconil paste on there or Captan powder to further prevent disease and rot till it scars.

Stem split, or split on vine? Either way, like Luke said, keep it dry and apply some sulphur or captain and it likely will scar over and not be an issue.
Mine started like this;

And healed over to this:

No, it's a "cut" along the vine.
It's already very dry(no open wound).
I really want to know what others think about putting soil over it, because the stem split is between the ground and the first true leaves.
In the article I read(wish I could find it back), they argued that since it's between the ground and the first true leaves AND it's dry, it was the best you could do.
They even stated that the "grey" dry surface of the plant would get roots much easier than the green "healthy" part.
The whole purpose was to literally burry a potential risk for infections and diseases and meanwhile give the plant some more roots.

Don´t bury the split. Keep it exposed to air, let it stay dry (build a little roof which protects the stump area and the split from rain) and everything should be fine. Some sulfur powder on the split can´t hurt.

I had stem split last year following a double vine trimming. It marked the beginning of the end

I use a styrofoam coffee cup ... I cut notches in the rim where I will lay it on top of the vine ... it keeps it dry and comes off easy to inspect and reapply sulfur as needed ...goes back on as easy .. usually ends up wedged between leaf stems and/or vines which keep it snug from blowing off ...
