One or two good contact pesticides:
1 - talstar(a brand name) or a generic bifenthrin, 2 - malathion, sevin, triazide, all cheaper and available at lowes but not as powerfull. 3 professional grade stuff that you might need a license for like ; warrior t etc.
Then you need systemic insectices that a plant takes thru roots and or leaves.
- merrit 75 wp (active ingredient imidacloprid) witch is a must have against borers, aphids etc. $35 for the strong version or bayer tree and shrub at lowers for the weak version. (strong version is the better deal)
And last but not least there are biological options that are less harsh: svb traps, japanese beetle traps, neem oil, or deterents like garlic spray.
For good protection use at least one contact spray although 2 diffrent ones are better (to cover more pests) and add the systemic option. (Granules are are an added option to) Then to really make sure you are safe, use a deterrent like garlic oil and hang up some traps.
Keep weeds in check to reduce bug pressure to!!
In pumpkin growing with all the money and time invested, its better safe then sorry.
good luck.

Merit kills honey bees. I hate seeing people recommend this insecticide to people who have no idea how to use it and when. It is systemic and will remain in the pollen of the male and female flowers.

Jacks classic organic Dead Bug used every 2 days works great. Be smart and protect our environment and positive insects that are vital to our survival.
