I know this was discussed last year, but I forget already but who had had success in 8 feet or under pollinations? Wasn't Steven's 1783 from last year close in?

I have one on my 1813 that will about 7 feet out, and would like to keep to let it go before the heat really sets in. I culled one last year at around 6 feet and the rest of the year I had issues.

I have also seen in diaries and posts other growers who have some pretty close in, but not sure if they are keeping.

Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't take one that close unless:

1. It's already smoking hot
2. It's going to be smoking hot the next couple weeks with no relief in site.

Home of happy lil plants

poll and wait til next one opens, safe route...then keep taking next one out til its the one !

i will say around 8ft down here shuts the plant down pretty nicely

Depends on your climate Luke. If you need to set them early cause of heat in july/august then 7 feet might be a good compromise.

I set 1 at 5 ft my first year here in Montana and it went to 271 lbs.It wasn't of great size but still grew pretty well in a 200 square ft plot.I have the same problem this year as my 1544 Revier has gone to 6 ft and produced its fist female out already.I really want to cross it with the 1478 Scherber that was planted the same day but it is going straight up and is a quarter the size of the Revier.

That's what I thought Chris, just wasn't sure. Thanks

We are mid 80's now so prime time daily weather for here, and the plants are really starting to grow. I'll pollinate and decide later, but the heat will be here soon.

Thanks again for replies.
